Sunday Snapshot: {Piggies,Pumpkins, and Potty training!}

I am sitting here this evening enjoying every moment of the fall weather finally coming! Fall is one of my favorites times of the year for so many reasons. From the cool, beautiful weather, the warm and inviting colors, the smells of the first pumpkin breads in the oven and the smell of my apple Yankee candle drifing through our house. Ah yes, I LOVE fall. Let's not forget the love of extra blankets and hooded sweatshirts, oh and the gorgeous decorations for the fall. We are not into Halloween as Matthew is very scared of it, but he does enjoy pumpkins, scarecrows, and those type of things.

This fall week-end was very enjoyable and was certainly full of piggy toes, pumpkins, and potty training - that's right, 3 P's! Matthew loves his bare feet and hates to wear shoes and socks. Crocs have been our best friend all summer, but he now has to wear sneakers all week long at school, bummer. Anyway, as soon he gets home from school, he kicks the shoes and socks off in the foyer then lies on the couch with his feet up just relaxing. He looks so cute like that with his feet up in the air, sometimes while he's sleeping and sometimes while he is chilling out :)hChilling out is what we did yesterday as Daddy worked in the yards and we worked on the inside of the house. I'd work a little, then play a little with Matthew, then we decided to stop working so hard and get out of the house for a while. We hit up Kohls and did very well in there with getting a few cute things. Then we were hungry and had dinner at a fun sports bar/restaurant that had the VT game on. Matthew LOVED his spaghetti and meatballs and ate like he was starving??

A short stop at the grocery store before we came home was needed so we could have snacks for the Penn State game...Matthew was in his PSU gear complete with NO covers on those piggies!

Talk of piggies takes me right to the potty training part - that we have been working on for MONTHS! OH MY, this is so very hard! We've look up how to potty train a deaf child and it is SO HARD! On Saturday we started using a special calendar chart that hangs in the hallway for Matthew to get a special sticker on his chart if he pees on the potty. I am proud to say we had TWO successful potties today, one this morning and once this evening and there a few pictures cause he is pretty proud of himself. I think he really wanted to wear the Mickey underwear and when he realized he was starting to get them wet, he quickly took them off, and he peed for a long period of time - lots of hand clapping and high fiving going on in our house this week-end. We have to continue to ask God for patience as he is really smart and we know we will be able to DO THIS!!!

We did manage to get some socks and shoes on Matthew, and took him to a nursery close to us that was having a Fall Festival week-end. There were a lot of things advertised that were going on there like painting pumpkins, faces, tattoos, a John Deere tractor photo op, bowling with pumpkins, a little football game, and hay areas to play in. Matthew definitely enjoyed sitting up on the John Deere tractor! We got him a little pumpkin to paint at home, he had some free popcorn, and even got a tattoo on his arm and some stickers. He's so easy to please!

Once home from lunch then shopping, we knew we'd all be tired - so we just had a very quiet evening, and it's ended the week-end quite perfectively......Matthew's piggies are hanging over the couch, blankets are over our laps since its a little chilly, and potty chairs are cleaning and ready for Matthew to keep up the good world!!!
